If God exists, why can't I see Him?

What the Bible Says?

"No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him." – John 1:18 NKJV

Three Things to Consider

  1. God is spirit, not a physical object in the universe.

  2. We trust many unseen realities.

  3. God made Himself visible in Jesus.

Short Answer

Because God is spirit, not a physical object inside the universe He made. You can't find the author by searching between the pages of the book. Yet we believe in many things we can't see: love, gravity, the wind. We see their effects. God's effects are everywhere. And God did something astonishing: He became visible. Jesus, the eternal Son, took on flesh so people could see, hear, and touch Him. John says no one has seen God, but Jesus has made Him known.
