What the Bible Says?

"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever." – Isaiah 40:8 KNJV

Three Things to Consider

  1. The game of "telephone" is the wrong picture.

  2. Thousands of ancient manuscripts allowed scholars verify the accuracy of the text.

  3. The Dead Sea Scrolls show how carefully it was preserved.

Short Answer

No. Many people imagine the Bible was copied like a game of telephone, changing a little each time. But scholars don't work from one copy of a copy. They compare thousands of ancient manuscripts from different times and places. The New Testament alone has over 5,000 Greek manuscripts, far more than any other ancient book. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, they showed Isaiah had been copied with remarkable accuracy across a thousand years. Translations differ in wording, but the message has not changed. God has preserved His Word.
