Why ShoutChurch Must Move Forward in Faith

Some churches fail because they lack leadership. Some fail because they are underfunded.

Some fail because they have no clear vision.

God Has Been Faithful, but We Must Be Honest

When we launched ShoutChurch in March 2025, we did so with great faith and high expectations. We signed our lease, completed renovations, celebrated baptisms, launched ministries, and opened our doors to the community. We invited families to Family Fun Day and welcomed people to our Grand Opening with joy and gratitude. For all of that, we give God glory.

At the same time, faithfulness requires honesty. Over the past year, we welcomed many visitors into worship. Many spoke kindly as they walked out the door. Yet many of them never returned. Our attendance has plateaued. In one recent season, we lost more members than we added. Church, those are not details we should ignore. Those are realities we must bring before the Lord.

Honest evaluation is not a lack of faith. It is an expression of faith. A healthy church does not pretend that every concern is small or that every problem will fix itself. A healthy church prays, examines, listens, and asks God to reveal what must change.

Faith Does Not Ignore Reality

There are moments in the life of every church when hard questions must be asked. Are we missing something? Is there something visitors are seeing, hearing, or experiencing that we need to address? Are we becoming too comfortable? Have we settled into routine instead of mission?

These are not easy questions, but they are necessary ones.

Romans 15:13 says, "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." That verse reminds us that our hope is not rooted in appearances, attendance trends, or outward momentum. Our hope is rooted in God. He is the God of hope. He fills His people with joy and peace as they trust Him. He gives power through the Holy Spirit.

That means we do not face challenges with panic. We face them with prayer. We do not face them with despair. We face them with hope. We do not face them by pretending everything is fine. We face them by trusting God enough to tell the truth and seek His direction.

We Must Confront Complacency Before It Hardens

One of the greatest dangers in church life is complacency. Complacency does not always look like open rebellion. Sometimes it looks like quiet acceptance. It looks like becoming satisfied with routine. It looks like maintaining activity without pursuing spiritual fruit. It looks like preserving comfort while neglecting mission.

Churches rarely drift all at once. They drift slowly. They stop expecting God to do great things. They stop burdening their hearts for the lost. They stop evaluating whether their ministries are truly helping people grow in Christ. They become content to gather without urgency.

That cannot be the future of ShoutChurch.

God did not bring us to Sierra Vista to simply occupy space. He did not establish this church so that we could maintain a schedule and feel good about surviving. He planted ShoutChurch here for His glory, for the spread of the gospel, and for the transformation of lives through Jesus Christ.

We Believe God Has Us Here on Purpose

There are seasons when a pastor wrestles deeply before God. Questions rise up in prayer. Did we miss God’s direction? Were we wrong to come here? Should we change everything to become more appealing? Should we soften the message so more people stay?

Those questions are real, but after prayer, one conviction remains firm: ShoutChurch is where God wants us to be.

Our foundation is Jesus Christ and the Word of God. That foundation is not negotiable. We are not free to reshape the gospel to fit the preferences of the culture. We are not called to build a crowd by compromising truth. We are called to proclaim Christ faithfully.

That conviction gives us both courage and clarity. We do not need to abandon our identity. But we do need to examine our practice. If something must change, let it be our urgency, our hospitality, our follow-up, our engagement, our prayer life, and our evangelistic boldness. Let it not be our doctrine.

Moving Forward Requires Both Conviction and Change

Some churches fail because they lack leadership. Some fail because they are underfunded. Some fail because they have no clear vision. Those realities should sober us. But they should also drive us to greater dependence on God.

Moving forward in faith means we refuse two extremes. We will not compromise biblical truth in order to attract attention. And we will not hide behind spiritual language to avoid necessary change.

Faithfulness is not stubbornness. Faithfulness is obedience.

A faithful church is willing to ask, “How can we better love people? How can we better welcome visitors? How can we better disciple believers? How can we better share the gospel in Sierra Vista?” Those are not worldly questions. Those are pastoral questions. Those are mission questions.

The God of Hope Is Still Leading Us

Romans 15 was written to believers who needed hope. Paul pointed them to the God who fills His people with joy and peace in believing. That same God is with us now.

He has not abandoned ShoutChurch. He has not brought us this far to leave us where we are. He is able to renew vision, strengthen hearts, deepen unity, and awaken fresh urgency in His people.

But we must respond. We must pray with sincerity. We must listen with humility. We must serve with renewed commitment. We must move forward in faith.

This is not the time to retreat. This is not the time to become discouraged. This is the time to seek the Lord and obey Him.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness to ShoutChurch. Thank You for every life touched, every baptism celebrated, every prayer answered, and every evidence of Your grace. Forgive us for any complacency, fear, or passivity that has settled into our hearts. Give us courage to face reality honestly and faith to trust You completely. Fill us with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lead ShoutChurch forward in unity, conviction, and gospel purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Call to Action

Take time this week to ask the Lord where He wants you to grow. Pray for ShoutChurch with fresh urgency. Ask God to renew your burden for the lost, deepen your commitment to the church, and show you how to serve with greater faithfulness.

If you are in Sierra Vista and looking for a church home, we invite you to worship with ShoutChurch. Come grow with us as we seek to glorify God, share the gospel, and move forward in faith together.
