What if they ask something I can't answer?
What the Bible Says?
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." – 1 Peter 3:15 NKJV
Three Things to Consider
"I don't know, but I'll find out" is an honest answer.
A hard question is an open door for another conversation.
Prepare by learning, and answer with gentleness and respect.
Short Answer
Say, "That's a great question. I don't know, but I'll find out." Honesty builds trust, and it gives you a reason for a second conversation. Peter tells us to be ready to give a reason for our hope, so keep learning; resources like this library exist for exactly that. But Peter also says to answer with meekness and respect. You don't have to win an argument. Your goal is to point people to Jesus. Often your humility and kindness will speak louder than a perfect answer.
