Jesus as Savior and Lord

True faith is more than receiving forgiveness.
It is surrendering every part of life
to the One who reigns.
The Question We Cannot Ignore
Jesus asked in Luke 6:46, "Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?" That question cuts through excuses and reaches the deepest places of the heart. It confronts the tension many people live with every day. We want the Jesus who saves us, but we hesitate before the Jesus who rules us.
This tension is not new. It is the struggle of the human heart corrupted by sin. We want rescue without surrender. We want peace without obedience. We want forgiveness without yielding our ambitions, our plans, and our identity to Christ. But the gospel does not offer a divided Jesus. He is both Savior and Lord.
Salvation and Surrender Belong Together
To confess Jesus as Lord means more than adding Him to our plans. It means laying our plans at His feet. It means no longer treating Him as an advisor in the boardroom of our lives, but recognizing Him as King over all. That kind of surrender may sound costly, but it is actually the beginning of freedom.
Many people want the comfort of salvation without the cost of discipleship. They want Christ to rescue them from sin, but not to rule over their decisions, desires, and direction. Yet the call of Jesus has always been deeper than a verbal profession. He calls us to follow Him, trust Him, and obey Him.
When Jesus saves a person, He does not simply improve their life. He becomes Lord over it. He begins to transform the heart, renew the mind, and reorder the priorities of that person’s life.
The Freedom Found in Christ’s Lordship
So many people are exhausted because they are trying to carry burdens they were never meant to carry. They are trying to define themselves, save themselves, and lead themselves. But Jesus offers rest for the weary and grace for the humble. When we surrender to Him, we do not lose life. We find it.
The world tells us freedom means self-rule. Scripture teaches that true freedom is found under the loving authority of Christ. His rule is not harsh. His lordship is not oppressive. He is the Good Shepherd who leads His people in truth, grace, and peace.
When we surrender to Jesus as Lord, we stop building our lives around ourselves. We begin to build our lives around His Word, His will, and His mission. That changes everything. It changes how we lead our homes, how we handle conflict, how we spend our time, and how we walk through suffering.
A Faith That Changes Homes and Generations
At ShoutChurch, we want to help people know the real Jesus—the Savior who forgives and the Lord who transforms. That is the kind of faith that changes homes, marriages, and generations.
A church full of people who truly surrender to Christ will not be casual about obedience. It will not be content with surface-level faith. It will become a people marked by humility, holiness, courage, and love.
That is our prayer for Sierra Vista. We want to see men, women, students, children, and families come to know Christ not only as the One who saves, but as the One who reigns. Because when Jesus is truly Lord, life begins to come into proper order.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for being both Savior and Lord. Forgive us for the ways we have wanted Your salvation without Your rule. Teach us to surrender every part of our lives to You. Reign over our thoughts, our desires, our plans, and our homes. Make us a people who do not merely speak Your name, but gladly obey Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
