What the Bible Says?

"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus." – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 NKJV

Three Things to Consider

  1. Christians grieve, but not without hope.

  2. Believers will be reunited when Jesus returns.

  3. The reunion is guaranteed by Jesus' resurrection.

Short Answer

For those who are in Christ, having confessed Jesus Christ as Lord, the answer is, yes. Paul wrote to grieving believers so they wouldn't sorrow like people with no hope. Because Jesus died and rose again, God will bring with Him those who have died trusting Him. When Jesus returns, the dead in Christ will rise, and living believers will join them, and "thus we shall always be with the Lord" (1 Thessalonians 4:17). Christian goodbyes are not final. They're "see you later." The best way to ensure that reunion is to trust Jesus yourself.
