What happens to someone who doesn't believe in Jesus?
What the Bible Says?
"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." – John 3:18 NKJV
Three Things to Consider
Everyone stands condemned because of sin.
Jesus is God's rescue; refusing Him means remaining under condemnation.
God's judgment is perfectly just, and the invitation is still open.
Short Answer
John 3:18 says that without Christ, a person is "condemned already." Unbelief doesn't create our condemnation; sin does. Jesus is the rescue. Refusing the rescue means remaining where we already are. Scripture is clear that those who die rejecting Jesus face eternal separation and punishment from God. That's sobering, and it should move us to share the gospel with urgency and love. We can also trust that God's judgment will be perfectly fair. And as long as someone has breath, the invitation remains open.
