Is hell real?

What the Bible Says?

"And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." – Matthew 25:46 NKJV

Three Things to Consider

  1. Jesus taught about hell more than anyone in the Bible.

  2. Hell is real, eternal separation from God's goodness.

  3. God doesn't want anyone to go there; Jesus came to rescue us.

Short Answer

Yes. It's not a popular truth, but Jesus taught about hell more than anyone else in Scripture. He described it as everlasting punishment, using the same word for "everlasting" that He used for eternal life. Hell is real because God is just, and sin against an infinitely holy God is serious. But hell is not what God wants for anyone. Second Peter 3:9 says He is not willing that any should perish. That's why Jesus came. He took the judgment we deserved so we could receive eternal life.

Heaven or Hell describe both eternal destinations with biblical integrity the way the Jesus, the prophets, and the apostles described heaven and hell in their day.
