Should I be afraid of dying?

What the Bible Says?

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?'" – John 11:25-26 NKJV

Three Things to Consider

  1. Fear of death is natural; death is an enemy.

  2. Jesus defeated death through His resurrection.

  3. For believers, death is a doorway, not a dead end.

Short Answer

Fear of death is natural. Death is an enemy, and Scripture never pretends otherwise. But Jesus came to free us from that fear. Hebrews 2:15 says He came to release those who were held in bondage by the fear of death all their lives. Standing at His friend Lazarus's tomb, Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life." Then He proved it. If you belong to Jesus, death isn't a dead end. It's a doorway into His presence. The good news is that Jesus defeated death and gives eternal life to all who confess Him Lord.
